Students will summarize the greatest common factor method in their own words. They will create a recording using Audacity. Students must provide three examples in their explanation. Each student will then listen to the recordings of two classmates and provide feedback.
Rationale for Assessment ChoiceStudents have done this type of factoring in the past. This is the beginning of our factoring module. Having students summarize the process in their own words allows both student and teacher to identify any confusion or misunderstandings. Students providing feedback to classmates encourages deeper thinking as well as additional reflection.
|
Rationale for Tool ChoiceThe simplicity of Audacity makes this the perfect tool. Students can record, edit, and listen with very little effort. Challenging students to summarize the process without visuals, as well as listen to the process and provide feedback, promotes critical thinking skills.
