Assessment Description
Students will be divided into small groups of 3 or 4. Students will work together in their groups to create a video which explains the process of factoring quadratics with three terms and "a" does not equal 1. Students must provide at least two accurate examples. Students are given a rubric at the beginning of the project. Each student must complete a self assessment along with an assessment for each group member. These assessments will only be shared with the teacher.
Rationale for Assessment ChoiceThis is the fourth and most challenging method in the factoring module. This assessment gives students the safety of working in a group. In creating an original presentation that explains the process, students are demonstrating their understanding of the concept. Working in a group to produce an original project helps develop critical thinking skills.

Rationale for Tool ChoiceExplain Everything is the ideal tool for this assessment. All students have access to the app on their iPads. Students can be as creative as they wish. The simplicity of the app allows all students to be successful. Presentations can be shared in an accessible format.
